Introduction

BFVZ LLC ("BFVZ," "we," "us," or "our") operates the website bfvztech.com and develops BFVZ PowerGantt Lite, a custom Gantt chart visual for Microsoft Power BI distributed through Microsoft AppSource. This Privacy Policy describes what BFVZ PowerGantt Lite does with the data it is given, what it stores, the information we collect through our website, the purposes for which we use that information, the legal bases on which we rely, and the rights available to you.

Information We Collect

BFVZ PowerGantt Lite (Power BI Custom Visual)

BFVZ PowerGantt Lite operates entirely within the Microsoft Power BI environment, in Power BI Desktop and in the Power BI service:

  • Reads data exclusively from the fields a report author binds to it in the Power BI data model (task names, dates, progress, predecessors, groups, categories and any tooltip fields). It processes that data in memory to draw the chart and runs the Schedule Health Check on it locally.
  • Does NOT transmit, store, or send any user data to external servers. BFVZ never receives your schedule data and has no way to access it.
  • Does not collect telemetry, usage analytics, crash reports, or tracking data of any kind.
  • Does not initiate any external network calls. All rendering and computation occur locally within the Power BI runtime. The visual declares no WebAccess privilege and contains no external URLs that it contacts.
  • Checks its license exclusively through Microsoft's built-in Power BI Licensing API (IVisualHost.licenseManager). The check runs inside Power BI and Microsoft's infrastructure; BFVZ receives no information from it. Purchases, trials and license assignment are handled by Microsoft AppSource and the Microsoft 365 admin center under Microsoft's Privacy Statement.
  • Keeps one small record in Power BI's local storage for the visual (the LocalStorage privilege, declared as non-essential): the license tier that Microsoft reported (Creator, Viewer or trial), the plan identifiers of that license, and the time of the check, under the key bfvz_license_cache. It lets the visual open normally for up to 14 days when the licensing service is briefly unavailable. It contains no schedule data and no personal information, it stays on the device and in the Power BI runtime that wrote it, and the visual refreshes or clears it on the next successful check.
  • Saves the settings you change in its format pane, including the light or dark theme choice and the colors assigned to Category values, in your report file through Power BI, in the same way as any other visual's formatting. These settings travel with the report, not to BFVZ.
  • In Power BI Desktop without a license, runs in Sample mode (the first 100 rows, with a watermark). Sample mode involves no registration, no sign-in and no data collection.

Your schedule data remains within Power BI at all times. BFVZ has no access to it.

Website (bfvztech.com)

We use two analytics services on our website:

  • Umami Cloud (cookieless): Collects anonymized pageview and event data — pages visited, referrer, browser type, device type, and country. Umami does not use cookies, does not collect IP addresses, and loads automatically without requiring consent. Data is processed by Umami under their privacy policy.
  • Google Analytics (cookie-based): When you consent to analytics cookies, we additionally collect standard analytics data including pages visited, time on page, traffic source, screen resolution, approximate location, and anonymized IP address.

We do not collect personal information through the website unless you voluntarily provide it (e.g., by contacting us via email).

Private demonstrations

Some BFVZ demonstrations (for example the BFVZ Demand Explorer) are opened with an access id and a password from an invitation. When you open one, our key service records, for each attempt to unlock it: the access id, the time, whether the unlock succeeded, your acceptance of the demonstration’s terms of access, your IP address, your country as reported by our hosting provider, and your browser’s user-agent string. We use these records to enforce the terms of access and the invitation’s opening limit and to investigate misuse; they are kept for 90 days and then deleted. The password is checked by the key service and is not stored. The demonstration itself runs in your browser and sends nothing else to us.

Cookies and Consent Mechanism

This website uses a cookie consent mechanism for cookie-based analytics. Google Analytics is loaded only after you provide explicit consent. Umami Cloud is cookieless and loads automatically — it does not set or read any cookies.

The following cookies may be set when you use this website:

You may withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser cookies. The consent banner will reappear on your next visit.

How We Use Information

  • Website analytics: To understand how visitors interact with our site, improve content and user experience, and measure the effectiveness of our communications.
  • Email correspondence: If you contact us via email, we use your information solely to respond to your inquiry and provide support.
  • Product improvement: Feedback you choose to send us informs our prioritization of BFVZ PowerGantt Lite features and improvements. The visual itself sends us nothing.

Lawful Basis (GDPR)

Where the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies, we rely on the following lawful bases for processing personal data:

  • Consent: For cookie-based analytics (Google Analytics). You may accept or decline via our cookie consent banner.
  • Legitimate Interest: For website functionality (theme preference cookie) and for cookieless analytics (Umami Cloud) to understand site usage without collecting personal data.
  • Contract Performance: For responding to support inquiries you initiate.

Data Storage & Security

BFVZ PowerGantt Lite stores no schedule data and no personal data. The only thing it writes is the license-status record described above, held in Power BI's local storage for the visual for up to 14 days. All data processed by the visual remains within the Power BI environment and is governed by Microsoft's security and data handling policies.

Website analytics data is stored and processed by Google Analytics under Google's data processing terms and by Umami Cloud under Umami's data processing terms. We do not maintain a separate database of website visitor information.

Any email correspondence is stored in standard business email systems with industry-standard security measures.

Third-Party Services

  • Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft AppSource: BFVZ PowerGantt Lite operates within the Power BI platform, and its licenses are sold and assigned through Microsoft AppSource and the Microsoft 365 admin center. Your use of Power BI and AppSource is governed by Microsoft's Privacy Statement.
  • Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics on bfvztech.com to collect anonymized usage data, loaded only after you provide consent. See Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Umami Cloud: We use Umami Cloud for cookieless, privacy-friendly analytics. Umami does not use cookies, does not collect IP addresses, and does not track users across sites. See Umami's Privacy Policy.

We do not use any other third-party tracking, advertising, or data collection services beyond those listed above. All fonts are self-hosted; no data is shared with external font providers.

Microsoft AppSource & Certification

BFVZ PowerGantt Lite is distributed through Microsoft AppSource as a transactable offer with Creator and Viewer plans. BFVZ is an enrolled participant in the Microsoft ISV Success program and a verified member of the Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program.

The visual declares no WebAccess privilege and makes zero external network calls. Its only declared privilege is non-essential LocalStorage, used for the license-status record described above. Licensing is managed exclusively through the Power BI Licensing API. Your use of Power BI is governed by Microsoft's Privacy Statement.
