BFVZ DataBridge
Free Power BI templates that bring Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project schedules into BFVZ PowerGantt and BFVZ PowerGantt Lite. No add-ins, no services, no data leaves your machine.
Export from your scheduling tool, open the template, point it at the file, load. DataBridge rebuilds the WBS hierarchy, keeps every relationship (FS, SS, FF and SF, with lag), carries baselines and progress, and flattens resource assignments, all in the exact field layout PowerGantt expects.
DataBridge for Primavera P6
Reads the XER file exported from P6 Professional or EPPM (File > Export > Primavera PM (XER)) and loads a P6_TASKS table ready for PowerGantt: activity IDs and relationships, WBS path and phases, actual, current and planned dates, percent complete by type (Duration, Units, Physical), float and critical flag, constraints, start and finish milestones, resources with budgeted and actual units, multi-project exports.
DataBridge for Microsoft Project
Reads the XML file saved from Microsoft Project 2007 or later (File > Save As > XML Format) and loads an MSP_TASKS table ready for PowerGantt: unique IDs and predecessor links with lag, the outline hierarchy rebuilt as WBS path and phases, actual dates, the saved baseline, percent complete, total slack and critical flag, constraints and deadlines, resource assignments with work hours and max units.
DataBridge Sample Files
Try either bridge before exporting your own schedule. Three fictional data center construction projects as both P6 XER and Project XML, with phases, lagged relationships, baselines, progress and resource assignments.
Power Query Source
The .pq text of both bridges, the same code the templates run, for adding DataBridge to an existing report: create the parameters named at the top of the file, then paste the query into a blank query in Power Query.
Requirements: Power BI Desktop (current release) and BFVZ PowerGantt 6.2 or later, or BFVZ PowerGantt Lite 1.0. The P6 bridge reads XER files from P6 Professional and EPPM, any version. The Project bridge reads XML saved by Microsoft Project 2007 through the current release. DataBridge is Power Query code and runs entirely inside Power BI; it makes no network calls and sends nothing to BFVZ. The templates are provided free and may be modified for your own use. Why XER and XML instead of Excel exports?
Excel exports from P6 and Project depend on the columns and field map you choose, so no two look alike. XER and XML are the tools’ own interchange formats: every field, every relationship, every assignment, always in the same place. One template works for everyone.
Do I need to set up relationships in Power BI?
No. Each bridge produces one flat table that PowerGantt reads directly.
Will my baseline come through?
Project: yes, the saved baseline. P6: XER exports carry planned dates, which the bridge uses as the baseline. If your P6 practice is to maintain a separate baseline project, export it and compare in PowerGantt using the baseline fields.
Can I add the bridge to an existing report?
Yes. The Power Query source of each bridge is available above as a separate download. Create the parameters named at the top of the file, then paste the query into a blank query in Power Query.

PowerGantt Lite Sample Schedule
A 100-task ERP implementation in eight phases and eight workstreams, with typed relationships and lags, baselines, progress, milestones, owners and budgets. One row per task in the layout BFVZ PowerGantt Lite reads, plus a field-mapping sheet, notes and a dependency legend.
Microsoft Project Online retired on September 30, 2026
If your reporting was built on Project Online, bring the Microsoft Project schedule data into Power BI with BFVZPowerGantt and BFVZ POWERHealth: the same data, with the critical path and the schedule health computed in the report. The free DataBridge for Microsoft Project template above loads the XML you save from Microsoft Project in the layout PowerGantt expects, with no manual data preparation.
